Shut Down the state government? Alrighty then!
Well, they did it again! It is so obvious that the state level conservative politicians are lock-step with the national level conservative politicians! The Democrats are in brain-lock, or so it seems. Republicans are showing an amazing resilience to do as much damage as possible to pay the master, the top 1 or 2% of the populace... those that have grown richer over the past decade or so. They ran a con game on the president and the Democrats in D.C. when they bargained for two more years of "The Bush Tax Cuts". Then the governors started in after collective bargaining rights in the public sector... we know who is next, don't we? Some of us remember the 1980 "shift" in the economic goals of the great US of A. Remember the "Trickle Down Theory"?
Coming right on down the governmental chain of public trough feeders, the State House of Representatives and the State Senate's across the land, are now turning up the heat on the lower 98% of the people. The very same "numb-nuts" that voted them right back into power after the previous 6 years of complete GOP domination of politics at the national level.
Why are so many Americans numb-nuts? I don't know and will not get a migraine trying to figure it out.
I do know that the political knowledge and awareness of the average American is about as big as a flea's patootie! Nonetheless, I am still proud to be an American but it's almost like having a weird relative that follows you around telling everyone that you are related. Constant embarrassment!
So they (the politicians) have shut down the state government and put into motion a series of events that will devastate many elderly, handicapped and disabled individuals, all across the state. But what the hell? It's the poor and needy mostly and the top 2% won't have to pay a little more to balance the state's budget. That's all Governor Dayton has said from day one... "He will not balance the state's budget on the backs of the poor and poverty stricken populace of the state". Minnesota is not a poor state. Quite to the opposite, Minnesota is a vastly wealthy state with natural resources alone. The sciences, especially medicine and natural disciplines are vast here. Business and the Arts are no less of a contributor.
But yet there are conservatives and their agenda, walking in lock-step unison as a national party. Determined to continue the Era Of Reagan and sacrifice the most vulnerable people in our society.
The one thing that has been the skeletal structure that this great nation is built upon... "Compassion for the poor". We as a nation have always taken care of those whom are not capable of doing so independently. In return, the blessing has always come back to America 10-fold. It seems that the past 31 years has come and gone quite rapidly. Many have made and lost fortunes, but the thing is this: "There are many fortunes being made today in 2011". Bigger and fatter fortunes than ever before in history! The more you have, the more you can make while sitting by the pool with a cocktail, waiting for the mailman to bring you more (Capitol Gains) dividend checks. The poor working stiff across town is paying more taxes on less money and losing his house, family, dignity and sanity. "Money talks... we know what walks"
